After a quarter full stomach of having the curry mee, we went to the stall next door to quench our thirst with this dessert, Oo Kio.

This “oo kio” is also known as Ai Yi Pin. It is sold by the owner with her son (each taking shifts) on a small lorry.

Oo Kio is actually a bowl of jelly that cut into cubes and then added with a lychee and a slice of lemon before being topped with crushed ice.

We normally melt the ice before eating to avoid having any brain freeze experience, especially if you take too much ice at once.

Besides oo kio, the stall also has a variety of drinks including green grass juice, cendol etc.

The stall operates at this area from noon till 6pm and will shift over to Chulia Street (near the famous curry mee stall)

Each bowl of oo kio costs RM1.30

Wah, your stomach content is really big ler. After eating curry mee, still got third quarter of space hor. Hehehe...Oh by the way, me too, I'll wait till portion of the ice melted then only start eating the dessert. Same for ice kacang and cendol.

    hi kim guan,
yes, we tried that laksa before. It's nice but still not as nice as the one in Penang Road (next to Cendul Stall) or the one at Farlim.

    penangkia...

don't have to be disappointed, makan-makan is about enjoying food but pushing them into your stomachs with as much as possible. what we couldn't make it during this trip, we'll go again on the next one. :)

This has got to be my *MOST* favourite dessert on the whole Penang island. No ice kachang or chendol or bubur chacha can beat this yummilicious thirst-quencher.

The amazing thing is, this is THE ONLY stall on the entire island (and perhaps in the entire nation!) that sells it. I have never heard/tried/seen this 'Or Gio' dish anywhere before.

However, the young man (the son of the owner) is not very friendly nor very communicative. He doesn't talk much and just nod when you place your order. I have seen some folks repeating their orders coz they tot he didn't hear but in actuality, he had acknowledged with a slight nod of his head. For me, it's ok as long as he is not rude. Like those stupid famous Char Koey Teow places like Sisters and Lorong Selamat. Pttooooii to them!!!

Oh...I forgot to share that the same stall is managed by the mom at "Gu Gantang" - Chulia Street.

Where the famous curry mee and wan thun mee is sold at night only. Hmmm...have not seen you guys feature this place yet. When ah? *wink*

So if you miss it during the afternoon at Weld Quay, you can head to Chulia Street at night for the same dish by the same seller.

Only problem is, the auntie is not very consistent. Some nights she sells, some nights she MIA. Abit susah to gauge her working pattern. :\
