Sunshine Square food court Curry Fish Head
Written on 5:04 PM by Penang Tua Pui
Whenever you have lunch at air-conditioned food courts or eating outlets, chances are your clothes will be smelly after that, well it is always true 100%.
Still, if there is an attraction to go there for food, we will not mind at all as long as the pros outweigh the cons.
The curry fish head stall at Sunshine Square food court is one of them. Well, of course we are there for the food but we are also there to admire the pretty cooks managing the stall as well.
Hey, we do admire pretty ladies who can cook good meals! lolx
As for the curry fish head, you can opt for fish meat as well if you want. The servings typically come in one big bowl for 3 persons and more. You will get ingredients like fish meat (obviously), lady’s fingers, tomatoes, onions, mint leaves etc.
I do notice somehow the portions of lady’s fingers are quite generous in the servings. The soup is not that thick compared to Lekker Claypot House but it is equally good. You can also order eiu chai as side order.
The curry fish head costs on average RM8 per persons and the stall operates from 10am till 9pm. Maybe we can call it Leng Looi Curry Fish Head? :P

inside the shopping complex ah?
I usually go the food court opposite of sunshine square.
I don't really like to dine here as after the meal, the clothes will be very smelly. The ventilation is not so good huh? :-|
Wonder what attracted penangtuapui to this place...curry or pretty cooks?
Must be the curry lor, cos it look so delicious. I must give it a try.
Normally i like to get the fish meat instill of the fish head. Some time the fish head is not fresh will make the curry no good loh.
J2Kfm,
Yes, it is inside the shopping complex, around the 2nd floor. You can easily access directly from the car park, or the entrance next to Pizza Hut. Well, one thing good about eating here is free car park for first two hours and it's completely shaded~! :D
Allie,
That is soooooo true. Ventilation wise, we have to give it thumbs down. Your clothes will be very smelly, maybe just not clothes, hair as well?
But don't think the management want to do anything about it because everyday at lunch, it's always full... So why fix if it ain't broken?? ;)
ck lam,
We have a confession to make as below....
***Statutory Declaration***
We, Penang Tua Pui, are attracted to good food, good view, good service, good environment, GOOD COOKS, good ambience, good value for money, good customer perception, good food...
Sincerely,
Penang Tua Pui
Correct, Correct, Correct
:):)
Remember to try the curry though ... hehe
Hi Dido,
Luckily for us, we didn't encounter this issue. Our few visits there, we could we're quite satisfied with the fish head/meat curry...
Or did we get our views glued somewhere else??? :p:p
Hahaha now we know what Penang Tua Pui looks out for when dining!!! :P
buzzingbee,
We're sure you'll look for almost the same criteria as we do!!! Maybe not for the cooks portion :P
Oooh... those are delish photos but more of the fish would make it even better!! :-P
550ml jar of faith,
Yea!!!
More fish would definitely be better.. Should ask for more next round!! :D:D
Eh tua pui, when you're going for food hunting near Bayan Baru next time can ask me along ler.. Nearby where I live.
Dear Princess Cheryl,
We would definitely love to~! ... Wow, got Penang Tua Pui eating together with a Princess. Who wouldn't want that, right? There's three of us and one of you, sure you won't mind the Penang Tua Pui to pamper our dear Princess Cheryl... But then can you handle us boh? :p
I've sort of like ~ Banned this foodcourt forever!!
though how good the food can get, the smell that sticked to your whole body is a real put off. I remembered that day I went for lunch there, after get back to office, i can't really concentrate on my work for the rest of the day!! that's how bad it can get.
perhaps, that's what it cost to get good food...hehe happy food hunting
FwuKai,
You were not the first person and definitely not the last persons to complain about this. This will continue to happen until the management take a serious effort to eliminate this problem.. Till then, have to tahan with it... or choose to eat elsewhere...
Read our Statutory Declaration (SD) why we came here in the first place ... hehehe
sunshine sq.. seems familiar with that name
lol
if i am not mistaken.. the "ang tau ping" is damn nice.. i order 2-3 one shot
wkakaa
Geez....
Never try the ang tau ping there before...but 2-3 glasses at one go?? You're good man...:)
The reason this place is good is coz the parking is free for the first 2 hrs and it's fully shaded. Perfect for rainy days for one doesn't need to dash from car to kopitiam and get drenched.
Tuapui,
You're right that the Fish Head Curry is good there. The other popular stall there is the Tomyam stall. It's one of the 3 'Lai Hoe' tomyam stalls located in the Bayan Baru area (1 at Teluk Bayan foodcourt behind Shell station, 1 at Sunshine Square foodcourt and 1 at Sunshine Market)
When it comes to food in this area, it's my territory! :D
You make my saliva dripping. Haiyo.. I feel like flying over to Penang just for the food. I like the curry fish head. I always eat there when I stayed in Penang. I like the tomyam mee so much.
Eleen Por,
Yup, couldn't agree more. These are the reasons that drag us to have lunch there, along with other reasons :) But, you'll have to bear with the smell that soaked into your shirts after that....
Don't play play.. Bayan Lepas is Eleen Por's territory, next time must have for tips also lioa :P
The tomyam... YES! YES! They are really good.. We're frequent visitors to the Sunshine Foodcourt and Sunshine Market stalls.. and you know, we always had a laughing experience cause everytime Tam Ciak take tom yam.. he'll soak in sweat as if he's just come out from shower... hahaha
I'm Choonie (I'm Huat Koay, I'm Fei Fei, I'm Tam Ciak)
Ooopsss... saliva dripping to your shirts lioa.. Quick, go take tissue paper to wipe it :D
So what are you waiting for? Come over for a trip here and enjoy the curry fish head and tom yam mee. Guarantee to satisfy your taste buds to the best... Perhaps top it up with Cendol as desserts and then some souvenirs of nutmeg and tambun biscuits to take home? :):)
Sounds interesting, eh?
